Afghanistan to be given timetable for progress and prosperity

Recently in Trinidad the British prime minister Gordon Brown was present in commonwealth head of state meeting. There he proposed some plan for solving the Afghanistan problem. He said some time frame should be imposed on Afghanistan to resolve its own crisis. It is a well known fact that the coalition NATO troops will not remain in troublesome area in Afghanistan for long time.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai and foreign ministers of several countries will meet on 28th Jan to chalk out a plan to resolve the running crisis in Afghanistan. The conference will be held in  London. They will discuss how Afghanistan will recruit more soldiers and police to tackle the situation of the country after foreign troop withdrawal. Everything will be completed
within certain time frame imposed by the international community. The conference will focus on how global body will render resources for that country to stand by its own feet. Brown said United Nation and other international organizations will attend the conference.

Brown said the first benchmark will come three months after the conference: the Afghan government will be expected to identify additional troops to send to Helmand Province for training. The Afghan government to recruit more officials and will take necessary step to curb corruption among the officials.

By the end of 2010, Brown said, the government should have trained an additional 50,000 troops and must take control of at least five districts to Afghan control from the 43-nation NATO-led force.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon issued a statement saying the proposed conference in London as timely initiative.
